The tinyWireless offers a unique PIC32 microcontroller development board with integrated HopeRF RFM69HW ISM band wireless module. tinyWireless is the latest in our range of very popular PIC32 and PIC24 development boards. These boards are popular with hobbyists and professionals alike. The tinyWireless development board can be purchased with or without the integrated RFM69HW wireless transceiver. Our tinyWireless development boards offer a flexible development solution. They can be used as an independent development board or can be mounted in a solderless breadboard as part of a larger project.

Note: tinyWireless development boards do not come with soldered headers. These are provided separately for the customer to solder themselves – this reduces the chance of damage during shipment. Depending on stock availability, you can choose either a 433MHz, 868MHz or 915MHz RFM69HW module.

PIC32 Microcontroller

Our tinyWireless development boards have a powerful PIC32MX250F128D 32-bit MIPS32® M4K® core processor installed, capable of running at up to 50MHz (83 MIPS). Software can be written natively in C/C++ and compiled using Microchips Free XC32 C/C++ compiler, tinyWireless also supports Microchips Harmony Integrated Software Framework, which supports abstraction of the PIC32 hardware from the programmer, speeding up software development. In addition, tinyWireless development boards are able to run your favourite Arduino sketches, using a number of open source tools such as chipKit MPIDE or Pinguino. TinyWireless has an Fubarino Mini compatible footprint to simplify Arduino use with the chipKit MPIDE.

Integrated Wireless Options

Our tinyWireless development board comes with the option of a HopeRF RFM69HW long range ISM band wireless transceiver. The RFM69HW is a highly integrated, 433MHz, 868MHz or 915MHz RF wireless ISM transceiver module (frequency band selected at purchase time). The high receiver sensitivity (–121dBm @ 1.2kbps) coupled with industry leading +20dBm output power provides extended range and improved link performance. These modules can communicate over many, many km’s depending on the data rate and RF environment.

Communication with the RFM69HW module is via a standard 4-wire SPI interface from the tinyWireless microcontoller. With the importance of wireless security in today’s environment the RFM69HW also includes an AES-128-bit encryption module, to prevent hacking of your wireless link. A datasheet for the RFM69HW can be downloaded here.
